'Kiss me, Kate' in Marion

The 2002 Marion musical is Cole Porter's Kiss me, Kate.

Marion students will perform their version of the musical on March 8 and 9 with a matinee on Saturday. Tickets will go on sale Monday, February 25, at the high school at 7:30.

The play originally opened in December 1948 starring Alfred Drake and Patricia Morison. The production went on to win five Tony Awards including 'Best Musical,' 'Best Script,' and 'Best Score' before closing its first run on Broadway on July 28, 1951 ... 1070 performances later.

The movie came out in 1953. It featured the dancing of Ann Miller, Hermes Pan and a young Bob Fosse.
