learn more Landscape workshop in Newark

Cornell Cooperative Extension will conduct workshops for Wayne County residents focusing on trees and shrubs for use in the landscape. In these sessions, participants will be acquainted with popular woody plant species that grow well in our area. Attention will be given to hardy, reliable varieties and some newly introduced cultivars. Cultural information regarding site adaptability and care of these plants will be presented.

Extension Educator Bob Eller and the Wayne County Master Gardeners suggest that, whether you are a complete novice or seasoned gardener, these classes could be beneficial to you.

The first session (focus primarily on Landscape Evergreens) will be held Monday, March 4 from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Extension Center on Rt. 88 North in Newark.

Additional sessions concentrating on deciduous trees and shrubs, selecting perennial species, and planting and pruning techniques will follow later in the spring.
