Grants given to historical societies

Grants totaling $1150 have been awarded by the Wayne County Antique Dealers Association to support worthwhile projects of three local historical societies.

The Galen Historical Society received $500 to reproduce dry plate glass negatives.

The Lyons Heritage Society was awarded $400 for twelve room-darkening window shades for protection from ultraviolet rays and security.

The Town of Rose Historical Society will use its grant of $250 to purchase a scanner/copier for preservation of historical documents.

Applications from chartered historical societies in this county were reviewed for this annual partnership grant program, which was initiated by the Antique Dealers Association to provide continuous cumulative support for the historical, cultural and creative life here.

A total of $6590 has been distributed since the program's inception. Applications for the 2002 grants will be available in the fall.
