Artifacts wanted for Arcadia Museum

The Arcadia Museum's next special exhibit will feature six Newark companies. The exhibit opens in February. The museum is located at 120 High St., Newark (331.6409).

Artifacts from the companies are needed to complement the museum's collection. Both loans and donations will be gratefully accepted.

Of the six companies, three are manufacturers and three were canneries. The manufacturers include Bloomer Bros. (and subsequent companies), Hallagan's (still in business), and Reed Manufacturing Co. (makers of 'anti-rusting' tinware and enamelware).

The canneries include Edgett-Burnham Co. (formerly known as Wayne County Preserving Co., with headquarters at-Newark's Cannery Row), Comstock Canning Co. and Perfection Foods.

If you have items to loan and/or donate, the Arcadia Historical Society Museum will be glad to accept them on Saturdays, from 1-3 p.m. at the museum, and other times by appointment.

Artifacts needed are products made by these companies, advertising items, photographs of buildings (inside and out) and employees, paper items such as letterheads, factory post cards, ledgers, illustrated envelopes, etc.
