Happenings Marion Happy Travelers are planning a trip to Lancaster, PA to see Daniel at the Sight and Sound Theater on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 23 and 24. The trip will include motor-coach transportation, breakfast, two dinners, admissions, a driving tour of the Amish Farmlands and more. A $50 deposit will reserve your place. If you are interested, call 926.7764. The Lancaster trips usually fill up fast! Several other trips are being planned and will be announced soon. John and Judie Gordon would like to thank the Marion American Legion for giving John the opportunity to go to Boys' State 2001. He truly enjoyed his experience there. 'We thought the members of the Post would like to know that John has joined the Marine Corps under the delayed entry program. He ships out on August 12. Joining the service has been what John has wanted since he was 9 or 10 years old. Going to Boys' State 2001 gave him further encouragement to do so. Thank you for giving the students of Marion this experience.' Bill VanGee is recuperating from cataract surgery. Meals on Wheels volunteers are urgently needed in the Marion area. If you can spare an hour two to four times a month, call the Home Meal Service office at 946.5622. At the Williamson Library they served 'Turkey Chili' made by Jean Fleck. It was delicious! 1 large onion (chopped) 3 minced garlic cloves 1 tsp. oil 14 oz. can chopped green chilies 2 tsp. cumin 1 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/8 tsp. Tabasco sauce 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper 2 cans Great Northern Beans (15 1/2 oz. each); rinse and drain. 2 cups chicken broth 3 cups turkey (cubed or ground) Saute onion and turkey in oil for five minutes. Add beans and seasonings, cook 15 min. Add broth and turkey, simmer 15 min. 8 servings. It was served with a scoop of sour cream on top! Family Night roller-skating party, sponsored by the Marion PTA is this eve. from 7-8:30 at the Elementary School. Children must be accompanied by an adult. January 20 was Bring A Friend Sunday at the Marion United Methodist Church. January 27, 1928: The Gas Engine School has been set for February 6, 7, and 8. The school will be held in the High School garage. At the end of the three-day program, any person taking the instruction will have knowledge necessary to make ordinary repairs.
