The service will take place at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Walworth Road, Ontario, south of Route 104. The Legion invites all veterans, their families, VFW, SAL, 40 & 8 members, and the public to attend. On February 3, 1943, the Dorchester, an Army transport, was carrying 902 service men, merchant seamen and civilian workers from Newfoundland to Greenland. It was hit by torpedoes. That evening, 672 men died, including the four chaplains - Chaplains Fox, Goode, Poling and Washington. There were 230 survivors, thanks to the chaplains. The four chaplains were posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, Purple Heart and a Medal for Heroism. Questions? Call Tom Pelcher, Wayne County Chaplain, 524.2938. Copyright
