At the Chamber of Commerce of Sodus: Doris Berger from the Sodus Point Community Center gave a presentation on the new playground equipment for Willow Park. They hope to have a 'community' build on August 17. Input was received from not only professionals but also the community and especially the children who want (and got) a longer slide. The playground will be handicapped accessible and can be expanded with separate areas for toddlers and older children. Doris invites anyone who wants to attend the meetings (on the 4th Monday of the month) to the Sodus Point Community Center. Andrew Ramsley spoke about his plans to host family movie nights at the Oscar Fuest Ball Field in Sodus Point. The first will be E.T. on July 13 and is free to the public. There will also be hot air balloon rides, jugglers, horse and carriage rides, a 'tent city' set up by the boy scouts; also a DJ and various raffles to benefit the Community Center. Activities will start at 5 p.m. and the movie will be shown on a large screen starting at 8:15 p.m. The movies sound like a fun way to spend an evening with the family. Porta Bathrooms will be available. Bring your children, blankets, lawn chairs, picnics and water. The next regular Chamber meeting has been changed to July 11 and will be held at Nick's Family Restaurant. Please call your reservations into Mary Jane Mumby 483.4067 by July 9. Recreation Departments from around the County will be busing youth to Sodus Point Park to take part in the 5th Annual Fun-in-the-Sun days. There will be four sessions - Wednesday, July 17 and Friday, July 19; 10:30 to 12:30 and 1-3 p.m., both days. Youngsters ages 5-14 will be given a two-hour period with activities as varied as swimming, sand sculpture, fish printing and water creatures.
