DAR will help you seek roots

Would you like to know your patriotic roots and how they made the foundation of our country? Have you ever traced your ancestors back to the American Revolution?

The Col. Wm. Prescott Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting an open house on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chapter House, 119 High Street, Newark, NY (just east of the Newark Public Library).

D.A.R. Members will be available with materials to assist you in starting your ancestral journey. Rosalyn N. Keifer of Lyons, will present a video entitled: What Is A D.A.R.?

Regent Cynthia Cuddeback, of Sodus Point, will give a report on the 111th Continental Congress; and refreshments will be served by hostesses: Jeanne B. Frey of Newark, Elaine Lannon of Newark, Sandra Yaskow of Williamson, Janice Young of Palmyra, and Cynthia Cuddeback of Sodus Point.

Historic Nugget: DAR gives prospective members an opportunity for service in many areas. It is a way to join with other members in trying to make America a better place in which to live. It offers an opportunity to work with the youth of this great country through the educational programs offered by the NSDAR. It offers encouragement to become active in the community, to assist in historic preservation, to help preserve important documents and records of the past. It offers an opportunity to meet new people with similar interests, develop friendships and to join with others who cherish the priceless heritage enjoyed by all while promoting the ideals of patriotism and love of country.
