Lyons Ambulance named ALS
agency of the year

Bill Liddle presents award to Paul FeraThe Lyons Ambulance was selected as the Finger Lakes Regional Advanced Life Support (ALS) agency of the year.

This is an annual award for the Region, composed of agencies in Ontario, Seneca, Yates, and Wayne Counties.

Lyons was selected based on their dedication and commitment of ALS to their community and surrounding towns where they supply mutual aid to Wayne County.

EMS Coordinator Bill Liddle presented the award to Paul Fera, Administrator, and the ambulance crew at a reception at the Lyons Ambulance Base. Town officials were at the presentation ceremony.

The plaque reads: 'Finger Lakes Regional EMS Council Presents Town of Lyons Ambulance with the 2002 ALS Agency of the Year Award for excellence in providing Advanced Life Support services to the community.'

Lyons operates with two fully stocked ALS ambulances and provides 24-hour coverage. Fera stated Lyons has two full-time employees who cover daytime hours during the week, and part-time employees who fill nights, weekends, holidays etc.

'The part-timers deserve a lot of credit. They are the ones that get up in the middle of the night, and still hold down full-time jobs of their own, ' stated Fera. 'I am very proud of them, and very proud of the award.'
