Patriotic Pet Parade at Sodus Faire

petsThis Friday, July 26, at 7 p.m., a Patriot Pet Parade will be held of the 'Olde Tyme Country Fair' sponsored by the Sodus Town Chamber of Commerce.

Parade entrants should be at Culligan's parking lot at 50 Belden Avenue at 6:15 to register and for judging. The parade will start from this point at 7 p.m. Be sure that the pet can be controlled. Dogs and other animals of that general size should be on a leash. Horses should be able to be easily controlled by their riders.

Bring proof that the pet has been vaccinated for rabies. Pets and owners may be dressed in patriotic garb. Businesses that sell pet-related merchandise are in the process of donating appropriate prizes.

The names of donors will be announced at the time of the awarding of prizes except for the $50 cash grand prize, the donor of which has requested to remain anonymous. The grand prize will be given for the best patriotic costumes worn by a pet and its handler/owner. The names of the recipients of the rest of the prizes will be drawn at random.

The Humane Society of Wayne County will have a booth at the 'Faire' and will also give a short program on pet care on Saturday morning. For info on Pet Parade, call 483.9307 or e-mail nransley@mac.com
