Frolicking in the floods

Cameron Seymour When Perkins Park and other areas of Newark filled with water last Wednesday and Thursday, kids were there to enjoy it. Schools were closed Thursday and Friday.

The kids are back in school today, and all students will report to school Friday to make up some time.

Mike Rynearson, Jr Police were called Thursday to keep kids from jumping into a flooded Perkins Park, but many were swimming and paddling around the overflowing Military Brook.

Later today, Town of Arcadia and Village officials are expected to lift the state of emergency declared last Thursday afternoon. Inspectors continue to assess damages, and some farmers are replanting after seeds and topsoil washed away.
