At Arcadia Museum this weekend

The Arcadia Museum Open House weekend will be this Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, from 10 to 5 daily, in conjunction with Newarkfest (just a block away on Main St.).

New exhibits and displays are featured throughout the museum, highlighted by the special exhibit 'Cartons, Couches, Canneries & Tinware: The Diversity of Early Manufacturing in Newark, N.Y.' Six Newark companies are represented.

Antique dealers will be set up on the lawn (Saturday only). The Rose Society of the Finger Lakes will be set up both days, from 9-5, to celebrate the Year of the Rose.

Civil War interpreters will be on hand both days, Sat. (10-5) and Sunday (noon-5). The museum also features a Civil War display with artifacts once belonging to Newark soldiers.

Ed Cornwell will appraise antiques on Sunday only, from 1-3 p.m. Verbal appraisals are $4 per item.

A rare Coca-Cola/Rexall Drugs porcelain and metal two-sided sign will be on display on the front lawn. This recently-donated sign once hung at the side door of Wildhack's Corner Drug Store.

Other special displays, to be on view through the summer, include Colacino's Rose Bowl Lanes, Newark Cigar Boxes, Post Card Views of Newark, c. 1905-1910 - with all post cards enlarged to 8 x 10, Rose Festival and Rose Garden photographs, and more.

Following the Open House, the Museum will be open Saturdays, from 1-3 p.m. (and by appointment). For info, 331.6409.
