Missing Sodus

boatSummer seems to be finally here. But it looks like it's going to rain on all the Flag Day parades tonight. And don't forget about Fathers Day this Sunday - maybe the skies will clear. (I guess I'd better take my kids and get some shopping done!)

Sorry it's going to be a soggy weekend - last weekend was just perfect. And I hear that the Sodus Bay Yacht Club had a successful Open House and Boat Show.

Helen Phillips will be working at the Wayne county Visitor's Center at Sodus Point two afternoons a week. Helen was going to Phillips European Restaurant in Rochester with her granddaughter for her French club to have a French meal. Did you have a good time? (Of course you did.)

Williamson Public Library Summer Reading Program, Splish Splash Read!, will start off your summer with a BIG splash. Beat the summer heat with cool books and programs! This reading incentive program for children and teens kicks off on June 24. Sign up early for a chance to win a Splish Splash T-Shirt! Free entertainment programs promise more family fun and include Bubblemania on July 10, Breezy Heights Puppet Theater July 24 and Bart Dentino's Rock & Roll Reading concert on August 9. Make soap, bath crystals, a bubble machine and many more interesting craft projects during the summer months.

Newly independent readers will have a special opportunity to practice their skills in the Book Buddies program that teams a new reader with an experienced reader to allow them to share the joy of reading together. The Book Buddies will have a pizza party in August! Registration is necessary. Please include the library in your plans for the summer - bathtubs full of bubbles, rubber ducks for everyone and all kinds of interesting prizes! (Thank you, Robin, for letting me know about the summer program.)

dog There are a lot of fun school events happening the last two weeks of school. Tuesday was Olympic Day. Mr. Sullivan's Third Grade Class is on a Field Trip to Seabreeze today. The Fifth Grade went on their trip to Fair Haven. (When we went, we had a great time.) On Monday (June 17), the First Grade will be going on their trip to the Zoo. On the l8th, the Second Grade Classes will be going on their trip to Fair Haven. Also on Monday, the Fourth Grade has their all-day celebration. Tuesday, the Intermediate school will have the Awards Ceremony and Talent Show. Sounds like a lot of fun. Summer vacation is tight around the corner.

Eileen Hooper and her family came up to New York to visit family recently. (While the kids here are counting down the days, the Hooper kids have been on vacation for a good month now.)

The Apple Shed will be opening for the season today - l0 to 5.

If you have an event you'd like to share, please write to me at

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great week.
