Trolley talk at Newark Kiwanis

Sheldon KingSheldon King (pictured) of Alloway is an authority on trolleys. He has hundreds of slides and postcards and can tailor a program for any group.

learn more Last Thursday, he spoke at the meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Newark. He included trolleys from East Rochester to Syracuse.

This Syracuse native graduated from Marathon Central in 1950. He is a graduate of Cortland Business Institute and SUNY Geneseo.

He was engineering librarian, patent committee secretary, and quality assurance analyst at Westinghouse in Horseheads, 1959-82.

He was research assistant at Wayne County Historical Society from 1985-94. He is author of several books and articles about railroads and electric railways. The Rochester, Syracuse and Eastern interurban lines all passed through Newark in the early part of the 20th Century.
