July 2, 1911: Program arranged for Safe and Sane Fourth Celebration. Everything points to a safe and sane celebration of the Fourth in Marion. All are advised to be in town in time for the grand floral parade at 10 a.m. Fusiliers, floats, various orders, accompanied by the Marion Concert Band, will be included in the procession. A ball game occurs at 10:30. Dinner will be served from 11:30 to 1:30 in the Grange Hall. There will be a fine open air concert in the evening in which a large chorus choir will join. The band will play and ice cream, lemonade and candy booths will supply the needs of the crowd. Everyone is invited to help the public library and Marion band by this celebration.
