Missing Sodus Did you miss me last week? Since we had time off from school we went out of town. (Of course the kids, had colds so I'm nursing one of my own.) Happy belated birthday to Alice Clark who celebrated on Sunday the 24th. If you see Carol Garland at the Sodus Library please offer her a hand, she injured her foot a short time ago. (Now, remember to stay off that foot and heal correctly.) School News: In the Middle School, beginning March 4, it's National Foreign Language Week. (If you go to visit the school probably should brush up on the parlez vous francais or the espanole. Sounds like fun.) The Primary School is having a Dr. Seuss Celebration today. Melanie Pike mentioned that March also begins another Read-A-Loud month at the school. Congratulations to Shawna Pike who received scholarships to three SUNY colleges, Potsdam, Oswego and Brockport. She is planning on going to school to become a High School Science teacher. The family will be attending the school's Open House. I can't believe she will be graduating in June of this year! The Pikes also saw Mr. Don McDougall in their travels. As I'm certain you remember, Mr. McDougall is a retired 6th Grade teacher from Sodus and the former tennis coach. Speaking of seeing people in their travels... while we were wandering through the Eastview Mall the other day, we saw Sylvia Coe who used to live across the street from us when we lived in Sodus on Sergeant St. Speaking of people from Sodus, not long ago I was in Parkland School and saw a familiar face. Mrs. Maier, who used to teach at Sodus Primary, she has a rabbit in the new school. (The world is smaller then you think.) Tomorrow (Saturday, March 2) is the Blue and Gold Banquet from 5 to 9 p.m. (Seems like yesterday we were attending.) Tonight, don't forget about the Fairville Lenten Fish Supper at the fire hall from 4 p.m. until ? Tomorrow - the Williamson Fire Hall will have a chicken BB-Q on Lake Ave. from 2-5 p.m. It will be another vacation week next Friday. I got mail from someone who missed the column last week. (It's nice to know that you miss me when I'm 'missing.')So what did you and your families do during the vacation time? Please write to me and let me know. My new e-mail address is I hope to hear from you soon. Have a great week and remember, whatever the weather decides to do, spring is coming!
