Sodus Middle School wins Quiz

Six schools participated in the Eckerd Drug Quiz Show, which involved having advisors lead teams in learning a wealth of information from materials provided through Eckerd.

Donna Johnson, Wayne County Education Coordinator for the Council on Alcoholism and Other Chemical Dependencies of the Finger Lakes, was the local coordinator.

The schools competed in two rounds of play, with the final two high scoring teams continuing on to the finals. After the final rounds of play, one team emerged to be the Wayne County representative to compete in the Regional Event to be held in Syracuse on April 3.

The high-scoring team is from Sodus Middle School. The students are: Adam Centro, Ashley Knapp, Nichole Carpenter, Qualita Cromartie, Sean Nash and Jordan Spear. They also had student coaches Danielle LaRok and Dominique McKinnon. Their advisor is Middle School Coordinator Richard Barham.

The team from Lyons Elementary School was a close second. They are: Lucas Quagliata, Zachary Bliek, Alexandra Schwartje, Aaron DeVries and Tiffany Graham. The advisors are Anne Cook and Sue Mack.

Also participating were:

  • Marion Jr./Sr. High School: Amber Taber, Erin Stockschlaeder, Nicole Richner, Tanya Beman and Michelle Yu. Their advisor is Cathy Grasso.
  • East Palmyra Christian School: Elya O'Bryan, Molly Arsenault, Kara Butterfield, Brittany LaTray, Danielle Henry, Adam Clark. Their advisor is Jean Starkenburg.
  • Red Creek Middle School: Travis Heslop, Chelsea Grasso, Cody Donahue, Amanda Forsythe, Alex Stevens, Elena Accordino, Keela Dates and Jen Dates. The advisors are Daniel Gilmore and Nancy Taddeo.
  • St. Michael School: Michael Bogan, Stephanie Parsons, Willie Clark, and Theo Babasidis. Their advisor is Hugh Spink.
