Missing Sodus

Wasn't the weather nice last Saturday? It felt like spring had sprung! (Sunday let us know that the nice weather wasn't staying.)

The Sodus Town Chamber of Commerce will be holding its 'Olde Tyme Country Faire' on July 26, 27 and 28. Last year, they had over 30 vendors and this year they're looking to add more. Vendors will be at the WCTA credit union parking lot and other activities will be going on throughout the town - an antique car show, chicken barbecues, pet parade, demonstrations, and the Jason Buyck Memorial 5K Race and Fun-Run. Arts/craft and antique vendor registrations forms are available from Mary Cook at 315.483.4193 or mrcjwc@aol.com. Non-profit registrations are available from Nancy Ransley. You can e-mail

chamber14551@yahoo.com

or get a form from the Chamber website at www.sodusny.com

The Fairville Lent Fish Suppers continue. Get to the Fire Hall tonight at 4.

On Sunday (March 17) the Alton Fire Department is putting on a St. Patrick's Day Dinner from noon until ? Sounds like fun.

Primary School News: Monday, the Primary School will have a Book Swap; on the 21st, the Pre-K will be going on a fun field trip to New York Pizzeria; on the 22nd, the Second Grade will be going on their field trip to the Nazareth Arts Center.

Intermediate School News: The School is having Activity night from 5 - 7. (Seems like yesterday, I was dropping off my son at Activity Night. It's a lot of fun.) Wednesday, March 20, the 4th grade will be going on a field trip to the RPO.

Happy belated Birthday to Melanie Pike. Her birthday was on Sunday the l0th. (You're as young as you feel. I have a birthday coming up, too. You only turn 30 once.)

I received an e-mail from Jacquie (Dreany) Hedden who is a l967 graduate of Sodus High School. She now lives in Santa Maria, California and has lived there for the past l2 years. It was really nice to hear from her. So we can keep our far-away readers updated, please write to me at

When you're homesick, it's fun to read up on what the people back home are up to.

We're all Missing Sodus.

Enjoy your weekend.
