New exhibit at Arcadia Museum

The Arcadia Historical Museum's 3rd major exhibit will open with a Grand Opening Reception on Saturday, March 23, from 10 to 5.

The new exhibit is entitled 'Cartons, Couches, Canneries & Tinware: The Diversity of Early Manufacturing in Newark, N.Y.'

Six Newark companies are represented: Bloomer Bros. (folding cartons), Comstock Canning Co., Edgett-Burnham Co. (cannery), Hallagan's (upholstered furniture - in business), Perfection canning Co. (aka Chapman -Chittenden), and Reed Manufacturing Co. (tinware, enamelware).

The exhibit will run throughout 2002. The museum's regular hours after the opening will be Saturdays, 1-3 P.M.

The Arcadia Museum is located at 120 High St. (across from the library and a block west of Central Park), Newark. Admission is free, donations are gratefully accepted.
