Palm Sunday events at Lyons Presbyterian

Holy Week begins this Sunday (March 24). The Palm Sunday service will begin at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. The choir, under the direction of Mrs. Camille Clark and accompanied by Mrs. Janet Buell, is preparing special music. The Angel Choir, led by Beth Whitbeck of Newark, will share a special song and will lead 'The Procession of Palms.' The 'One Great Hour of Sharing Offering' will be received. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her sermon is titled 'Hosanna.' Following the service, there will be a special time of fellowship.

At 3 p.m. on Palm Sunday, the popular brass quintet, 'Classic Brass,' will join with Molly Hamilton for an entire concert of music for brass and organ. The concert is called 'Brass: Pipes and Tubes.' The Classic Brass ensemble was formed in the summer of 1996 and includes Robert Howard on the trumpet, Steve Trowbridge on the trumpet, Cynthia Smith on the horn, John Trowbridge on the trombone, and James Trowbridge on the tuba. Molly Hamilton, organist at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and at Hobart William Smith Colleges will join with Classic Brass for this special event. The organ and brass performance, the last concert of The Lenten Concert Series 2002 is made possible in part by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program which is administered in Wayne County by the Cider Mill Regional Arts Council. There is no charge for the performance but a free will offering will be received. A 'meet the artist' reception will follow in the social hall of the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Everyone is welcome.
