A nice enough weekend... we didn't have any snow, anyway. Spring, according to the calendar, began on the 20th.

The Sodus Town Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients for the 2001 Citizen of the Year award are Mike and Brenda Garlock.

Mike is a life-long resident of Sodus and operates the Northern Wayne Auto Parts store on Maple Ave. He is a member and past officer of the Rotary Club, is currently a member of the Board of Directors and is the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. They both have worked tirelessly at all the fundraisers for the Rotary.

Mike and Brenda are also active in Ducks Unlimited. He is currently State Vice Chairman. Brenda is currently serving on the State committee of national delegates. Mike has presented many informative programs regarding the conservation of our wetlands. He also serves on three Boards of Directors of the Wayne Co. Cooperative Extension.

Both Mike and Brenda have worked tirelessly as members of the Chamber of Commerce over the years, organizing the tree lighting ceremony. The two also worked on the Santa Train ride wherever their services were needed.

The public is invited to The Citizen of the Year Banquet being held April 9 at the Normandy Inn. Tickets must be purchased in advance from Tracy Fox Law Office; Pam Heald or Bonnie Decker at the WCTA Credit Union, or by calling 315.483.4067. Deadline for reservations is April 2.

Andy Simmons graduated in December from AIT 10th Mountain Infantry in Fort Benning, GA, and is currently serving in Afghanistan. His mom, Betty, must be proud indeed. (We all send good thoughts for him and his safe return.)

easter bunny Happy Birthday to Brian Hooper on Tuesday, March 26. (He can spend time relaxing under the breezy Palm trees.)

Carol Garland hopefully got a clean bill of health and was able to stop wearing her removable cast. She fell in the parking lot and broke her ankle a few weeks ago. She was told she would have to wear the cast until the l8th of this month. (Unfortunately, she had to wear the cast during her trip to Florida. Carol, let me know how your trip went.)

Kraft Shack News: Wednesday, April 3 come to the Rubber Stamping Class from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Spend a night learning some techniques on rubber stamping. You will make several items to take home. $20 includes all; pre-register and pre-pay. Don't forget March is National Craft Month.
