Holy Week at Lyons church On Maundy Thursday, March 28, there will be a service of footwashing at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. This short service will be followed by an evening prayer service with The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper and drama. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled 'Breaking Bread.' Ms. Olyve Ross of Lyons will be the organist for the service. On Good Friday, March 29, there will be an ecumenical procession of the cross at noon. The procession of the cross will begin at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church at the corner of Holley and Phelps in Lyons; to St. John's Lutheran Church; to the Lyons Presbyterian Church, then on to the United Methodist Church. The procession will end at Grace Episcopal. At each stop, the pastors will read a portion of the story of Good Friday as told in Luke's gospel. There will also be prayers and songs. Everyone is welcome. Participants should dress for the weather. At 7 p.m. on Good Friday, there will be a candlelight worship service at the Lyons Presbyterian Church. Jan Bailey will be the soloist. Kevin Wolfer will share a monologue called 'The Testimony of the Blacksmith.' The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled 'Betrayed.' On Easter Sunday, March 31, there will be an Ecumenical Easter Sunrise service at the Boss Farm on 2625 Bastian Road. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is titled 'Do Not Be Afraid.' In case of inclement weather, please meet at the Presbyterian Church of Lyons. We will begin to gather at 5:45 a.m. Sunrise is at 5:55. Dress for the weather. Breakfast will follow, hosted by the members of the United Methodist Church of Lyons. Information about the sunrise service can be obtained by calling the Presbyterian church at 946.4723. There will also be a 10 a.m. Easter Worship Service at the Lyons Presbyterian Church. The four newest 50-year members will be recognized. They are: Zaida Park, Rosalyn and William Keifer and Janet Buell. The choir, directed by Camille Clark and accompanied by Janet Buell is preparing a special Easter Anthem. Scott Simmons will be the Liturgist. The Rev. Cynthia Huling Hummel will preach. Her meditation is 'Come! Go! Tell!'. Following the service, there will be a special reception to honor all 50-year members. It is being coordinated by the Membership and Evangelism Committee.
