Ceremony of Remembrance in Lyons Families and friends who are mourning a loved one's death are invited to attend a 'Ceremony of Remembrance' on Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Lyons, 11 Queen Street. Sponsored by Genesee Region Home Care's Hospice of Wayne & Seneca Counties, the ceremony is open to anyone who is grieving - not only to families whose loved ones received Hospice care. Each spring, the Ceremony of Remembrance pays tribute to the memory of area residents who have died and to the enduring strength of their caregivers. The non-denominational ceremony features music, readings, personal reminiscences, and prayerful meditation. Ritual observances include assembling a wreath of remembrance and hope as participants weave fresh flowers into a large, colorful garland. 'For some people, it's not easy to come to the Ceremony of Remembrance. But it can give us strength to know that we are not alone in our grief when we attend an event with others who are mourning,' says Maryjo Williams, bereavement services coordinator for Hospice. This event is open to the community. RSVP's are requested to make sure there are enough refreshments at the reception following the ceremony: 331.7990.
