Happenings Welcome home to Rog and Gen Adriaansen, who have returned after spending some of the winter months in sunny Florida. Jennie Hubright is recuperating after cataract surgery. Congratulations to Gary and Cheryl McLouth on the occasion of their 37th Wedding Anniversary on March 25. April 2, 1931: Marion Firemen are preparing a play, 'A Full House' under the direction of L.W. Bradley and Rev. M.J. Verduin, to be given to the public in a few weeks. John and Eileen Ballesty have returned from a vacation in Las Vegas. The Sons of the American Legion will be holding an 'Easter Egg Hunt' at the Legion Post Home, on March 30 from 10 to 2 for children 12 and younger. Congratulations to Howard and Svea Dahlberg on their 55th Wedding Anniversary on March 16. Jacob and Heather DeLyser announced the birth of Chloe Anne, on March 13, weighing 5 lbs., 10 oz. Thanks to everyone, especially Rev. Dan and Matt Shaff, who sponsored the young people at the United Church for the 30-hour famine. Through your generosity $1741 was raised for the hungry and needy. On Friday we received a phone call from Disney World, so we could hear the Marion High School Band during their performance.
'Coloring on the wall is fun, even if you get in trouble later!' Easter services at the Second Reformed Church include a 7 o'clock sunrise service at the Town Park and the traditional Easter Sunday Service at 10 at the church. Mr. Santilli congratulates 7th and 8th grade students who participated in the Middle School Skills Competition: Jake Follett - 2nd place in Auto Mechanics; Paul McCarthy - 1st place in Computer Systems; Steffanie Ansuini - 3rd place in Cosmetology; Morgan Carrel - 3rd place in Drafting/Computer Automated Design; Sarah Mackey and Keara Foley - 1st place in Early Childhood Education; Kevin Geldoff - 2nd place in Machine Trades; Tom Sapp - 2nd place in Network Technician. A traditional Easter food is the Hot Cross Bun. Originally these buns were made in the form of unleavened bread, with a cross marked on the top crust. Hot Cross Buns are sweet yeast rolls with frosting on the top, formed in the shape of a cross. Richards Chapter, OES in Marion started their meeting on March 20, with a Pot Luck Supper. Dr. David Sewert, Chiropractor in Newark, spoke on 'How to take care of yourself, without spending a lot of money.' The next meeting is April 3 and will focus on Wildlife and Earth week.
