Historical Society annual dinner Tickets are now on sale for the Wayne County Historical Society dinner Wednesday, May 15 at Wayne Hills Country Club, 2250 Gannett Road, Lyons. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. buffet dinner. A brief business meeting will follow the meal when the officers for the next year will be elected. Guest speaker will be Clark King, Mayor of Fairport and member of the Association of Game and Puzzle Collectors. His topic will be Remember Those Board Games? American games date back to 1744 with a Pennsylvania Dutch card game used to teach Bible verses. King has a huge collection of board games, all manufactured in the United States. King, not only collects board games, he also encourages families to play board games. He contends that board games provide social interaction that one does not get when playing computer or video games. Time will be provided for attendees to view King's display of games. Tickets for dinner are $18 and may be purchased by stopping by the Wayne County Old Jail Museum, 21 Butternut Street, Lyons or by calling 946.4943. Copyright
