NHS alumni musicians invited to play

Former Newark High School musicians are invited to perform with the NHS Wind Ensemble at its final concert on May 30.

District music supervisor Dave Schwind, who is an NHS instrumental music teacher and directs the Wind Ensemble, said anyone who played in the high school band is welcome to participate.

'It doesn't matter if they haven't touched their instrument since they left high school,' Schwind said. 'We would just love to have them come back and join us. We've done this for three or four years and we've all had a great time.'

Alumni will play during two of the concert selections: In the Miller Mood, a Glenn Miller medley, and Stars and Stripes by John Philip Sousa, which is traditionally the final concert selection.

Participants will be required to attend a rehearsal May 29 from 7:30-9 p.m. in the band room.

Anyone who is interested should call Schwind at 332.3200, and then press the pound sign key and enter his extension, 2251. Or, e-mail Schwind at:
