Savannah bridge closes Monday

The NY State Dept. of Transposrtation is replacing the Rt. 89 bridge over Crusoe Creek in the town of Savannah this summer. The bridge is to be closed to traffic Monday, May 13. The new bridge is expected to open in July.

A posted detour will direct northbound traffic to Route 31 and Hadden Road. Southbound traffic will be directed to take South Butler to Madden Road. Warning signs have been posted to alert regular commuters of this pending traffic change.

The existing 2-lane bridge built in 1928 will be replaced with an up-to-date structure with wider shoulders. The approach pavement will also be improved. Use of the nearby canoe launch is not expected to be impacted, except during demolition.
