Humane Society plans Open House

The Humane Society of Wayne County will hold its annual Open House this Sunday, May 19, from 11 to 3, at the Society shelter (1475 County House Road in Lyons).

Tour the shelter, meet the staff and board members, and learn about the valuable services provided.

Veterinarians will be on hand to answer general questions you might have regarding animal health issues.

There will be plenty of animals for petting and cuddling. Cracker Box Palace will provide pony rides and a petting zoo. Llamas will be greeting visitors; goats will be there to play; and ferrets will pay a visit.

Learn about adoption and other animal services - Upstate Guide Dog, Invisible Fencing of the Finger Lakes, the Pet Education Group, Crawford's K-9 Cuts, and dog obedience.

Therapy Dog International and Canine Good Citizen certification will evaluate your dog. Bring your dog for evaluation and certification as a therapy dog and/or a good citizen. Prior registration for this activity is required, please call Kim Hahn at 585.388.5662 by May 15.

Advance registration for Walk-A-Thon 2002 (Sept. 22) will be available. Register early and receive a 'Zanies' Berber Bear for your dog, while supply lasts.

There are books, flowers, Bow-Wow Biscuits, and crafters with many original items for sale. Chicken BBQ will be available for $5.50. For the younger crowd, there is face painting and Roscoe, The Court Jester.

All are welcome to attend this event.
