Marion top students

Christine L. BrownChristine L. Brown, daughter of Robert and Nancy Brown, is the Class of 2002 Valedictorian of Marion High School. She has earned this distinction by accumulating an academic average of 95.676.

In addition to completing her four years of high school with the top average in a class of 91 students, Brown is an active school citizen. She has participated in volleyball, National Honor Society, the German Exchange Program, the annual musical, marching band, show choir, All-County band, area All-State band, and she founded the organization 'Mission Possible.' She was also chosen as the Girl's State Representative and won the HOBY essay contest.

Brown will attend the University of Oklahoma in the fall, majoring in meteorology.

Sara E. CatalanoSara E. Catalano, daughter of Elizabeth and Richard Walker, and Dominic Catalano of Ohio, is Salutatorian of the Class of 2002. Catalano has an average of 94.578 over three years of study. She participated in the National Honor Society, German Exchange Program, peer tutoring, and she does a number of volunteer activities in the community. Catalano is spending this year studying in Germany. She won a national scholarship that allowed her this opportunity. She will spend a year working for AmeriCorps.
