Everyday I get up and expect warmer temperatures and everyday it seems to get colder.

Carol Dwyer said the temps have been in the mid 70's in Washington. (I bet the cherry blossoms were beautiful.)

You are invited to join U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 44 in celebrating Armed Forces Day tomorrow (May 18), with an open house from 1-4 p.m. at Coast Guard Station Sodus Point at the end of Wickham Blvd.

Water rescue units from the North Rose, Pultneyville and Sodus Point Fire Departments, as well as the Wayne County Marine Patrol, will be offering tours of their boats. Stop by and say 'hi' - and thank them for keeping our waters safe.

Don't forget the Apple Blossom Festival is this weekend. It's supposed to rain, but just grab an umbrella and head to Williamson. Tonight is the Apple Blossom Spaghetti Dinner at the Williamson Fire Hall from 4-7 p.m. The parade will be on Main Street tomorrow at 3 p.m. It's always lots of fun. And the Fly-in breakfast is at the airport. There are a lot of great things for everyone to do.

Wallington Bog and Grog is on Sunday at noon.

The Humane Society will be having an Open House on Sunday (May l9) from 11 to 3 in Lyons. There will be all kinds of fun things for everyone to do. There will be a chicken bbq ($ 5.50).

Happy Birthday to Michael White (who is aging way too quickly for his mother's liking.)

I spoke to Susan Hooper on line the other day in Florida. They get out of school earlier than the kids up here do, so she has only 5 more days left until summer vacation. Eileen is busy and still working at Disney. (I bet you could never have a bad day at work.)

Don't forget to sign up for the class at the Kraft Shack so you can make the Angel Birdbath on Monday, May 20 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Mark your calendars: There will be a Civil War Living History Weekend at Heritage Square Museum the weekend of June 8 (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and 9 (from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Come see Enactment groups from the area settle in to the historic 19th century village of Heritage Square. Tour the buildings and take part in Civil War history. Any Civil War enactor who would like to participate is welcome. For more information, call Barbara Vandevort at 315.589.8120.

Thanks to everyone who sent me information for the column and if you have anything you'd like added please send me a note
