learn more! Newark Grange offers scholarship

The Newark Grange will again provide a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Newark High School.

Some of the past recipients are Jennifer Doyle, Amy Clark, Aleia Tellier and Kristen Ottnod.

The Grange members have been focusing on volunteering to make a difference in the community. Some members spend time at schools, listening to a child read, practicing math facts, etc. One gives her time playing the piano for many groups including Seniors, nursing homes and hospitals. Some sew quilts for flood and fire victims. Others make dolls and teddy bears for local pediatricians' offices and hospitalized children. Some members act as tour guides in the Wayne County Museum for elementary school field trips, are Girl scout leaders, work with the local food closet, or visit shut-ins.

Past community services include the donation of $5000 for renovating the community center. The Grange donated to the library expansion program and continues to give the library yearly support.

The Grange is a community organization and members can be found actively involved in every community endeavor. If you'd like to learn more about Newark Grange call 331.4045 or 531.7021.
