'Welcome Home!' to Dan and Mary Filibert. They arrived in time to share in the snow showers we had on Sunday, May 19.

There will be a garage sale at the Scarlet Thread Ministries, 32 Mill Street, Sodus, on May 31 and June 1.

Charles VerPlank, Jr. is recuperating from recent surgery.

On Saturday, June 8, the youth at the Second Reformed Church will be holding a car wash and bake sale in the parking lot. This will benefit the Bahamas Mission Trip. $5 suggested donation for car wash.

May 27 - Memorial Day Celebration. No school. Parade at 11 a.m. Marion Museum open from 10-noon.

Arloa Beadle is recovering from knee surgery.

May 25, 1933: The Marion Chamber of Commerce are having more street signs put up in Marion and are also planning to have the houses numbered.

At the April 13 banquet at the Quality Inn in Newark, the Marion Fire Department and Marion FD Ambulance celebrated another year of serving their community. They named their top Firefighter and EMS of the Year 2001.

Marion Firefighter of the Year for 2001 were fallen firefighters of September 11. First Assistant Chief Rich English accepted the plaque on their behalf, citing the 'care and concern' that the firefighters showed.

EMS Member of the Year was Gloria Lance-Taylor, a firefighter and EMT since 1991. Lance-Taylor is an Advanced Life Support Technician and a teacher for Finger Lakes EMS Council, as well as Training Officer for the FD Ambulance.

The banquet included recognition and a moment of silence in honor of Marion Fire Department members who died in the past year. They were: Vern Leenhouts, Ed Stevens, William VerPlank, and Auxiliary members Joan Adriaansen and Ruth Haskins.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Kiss Me, Kate! In all we received 9 nominations from Rochester Broadway Theatre League - Group nominations include: Dance Ensemble, Singing Ensemble, Acting Ensemble, Stage Crew and Outstanding Musical. Kyle Haak, Katie Harris, Lindsey Brower, and Amanda VerPlank won individual nominations for their performances. Come see us at the auditorium on June 2!

New student members of the Board of Education are AJ Casper, Mary Boerman and Amanda L. Hill.

The 'Project Show' class attended Special Olympics at Geneva High School. Matt Angelo won two first places, Jamie Carpenter had a first place, Gerald Cook, Janelle Pipitone and Peter Brisson each won a second place. Crystal Nicodemus and Ed Silcox won third and April Wahl took home a fourth place.
