Newark folks adopting the 416th

afghanistan

Local Citizens are adopting the 416th Facility Engineer Corps in Afghanistan, where Jim McBride from Newark is on active duty in the Army Reserves.

(Jim left Newark with a digital camera from the office of the Courier-Gazette and e-mailed these pictures back to us last week.)

People are collecting socks, snacks (nuts, raisins, pretzels or dried fruit), power bars, granola bars, tuna in a pouch, instant coffee and powdered milk to send to the 416th. They also need C and D batteries, and baby wipes.

During June, you may take part in sending items to Afghanistan. There will be volunteers and a donation box in front of Newark Wal-Mart on Sunday, June 2 between 10 and 2. Glass and perishable items are not acceptable.

At other times, you may drop items at Farrell's Service Station, the Newark Diner, HSBC in Newark, Doug Kent's Rose Bowl Lanes, Newark VFW, New Age Photo and Print.
