Fratangelo receives the Coast Guard award

fratangelo gets awardUnited States Coast Guard Auxiliary member Robert Fratangelo was invited to Coast Guard Air Station Detroit by commanding officer Capt. Spillman to receive high honors. In a ceremony held in one of the large hangars, the station's crews were summoned to an All Hands Call to Muster as Bob Fratangelo from the 9th eastern region and Bob Shafer from the 9th central region were recognized for their outstanding contributions to air operations.

The Operational Award of Merit, an award that recognizes outstanding achievement or service of an operational nature, was presented for their groundbreaking efforts in coordinating with many government agencies and the air station to implement Coast Guard Auxiliary Air Crews performing port security patrols. Auxiliary aircrews have logged over 600 flight hours while augmenting the air stations crews as they ramp up for their mission.

Fratangelo, an auxiliary member at Auxiliary Operated Station Sodus Point, says he is humbled by the experience, which is the highlight of his USCG Auxiliary career.

Congratulations Bob. Semper Paratus.
