Raffles for Lyons Library The Lyons Public Library is holding two raffles to raise money for the library's building fund. A queen-size quilt, which was pieced by Leona Manning and machine quilted by Marti McDannel, is currently on display near the front desk of the library. The quilt is known as a 'sampler quilt' since each block features a different quilting style. The quilt is valued at $400 and the library would like to raise at least that amount or more. The drawing will be held Monday, September 16. A Beatrix Potter Theme Basket is the second raffle that the library is holding. The large wicker basket is filled with books and items found in the Potter books and is on display at the front desk. Items include a stuffed, talking Peter Rabbit, a Peter Rabbit planter, and three of her books. The basket is valued at $50 and the library would like to raise at least $100. The drawing will be held Friday, August 23. Tickets for both raffles are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. For more information: 946.9262.
