Missing Sodus Before, everyone was worried that the mild winter would bring more drought, but, with rain like we've had, we may be just fine. (I'm sure the l06 people who were rescued Wednesday night from the Wal-mart and P&C parking lots weren't thrilled with it.) In the School news: Volunteers at the Sodus Primary School were recognized on Thursday, May 30 - volunteers are important people. Also on Thursday, Mrs. Ludden's class went on a field to the Wayne County Museum in Lyons. Mrs. Bopp's class is set to go today. Fairville Field Days are this weekend. Just head south of Sodus on Route 88. The Sodus Point Fire Dept. is holding the Pot of Gold fundraiser at the fire hall Saturday night. (Doors open at 3; dinner is 5-7.) On Saturday (June 1 already!) the Sodus Rotary Club is sponsoring a Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Sodus. On Sunday (June 2) the Wallington Fire Department will be having a Chicken BBQ at noon. Ontario Summerfest this weekend, too - June l & 2. Take your kids (18 months to 3 years) to the Williamson Public Library Monday morning (June 3) at 10:30 for Story Time. To register, call 589.2048. You can have story time with the kids every Monday in June - on June 3, 10, 17 and 24. Then, on June 4, the Wayne County Raptors begin their season of New York Collegiate Baseball in Colburn Park in Newark. The exhibition game against Geneva begins at 7 p.m. All home games are at Colburn Park, Rt. 31 East, Newark; to purchase tickets, call 483.8850 or 331.0888.
On Friday, June 7, the Newark Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. to travel to Sodus Point to visit the garden of Nancy Schopf and Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. Lunch at the Sodus Bay Country Club will be followed by Nancy Schopf giving a brief presentation. She is a National Council Master Landscape Design Consultant and Master Flower Show Judge. She is also a Past District Director of the 8th District and has served on the NY State Board for 18 years as Horticulture, Landscape Design and Symposium Chairman. Happy June Birthdays to Ruth Malone who will be turning '30-ish' and to Ruth Colgrove (who is also getting younger by the minute). The Sodus Point Community Garage Sale is next weekend.
