Lyons food programs have new coordinators

The Lyons Food Pantry is pleased to announce that Melissa Hilfiker has been hired as the new pantry coordinator. She is responsible for scheduling and training volunteers, ordering and shopping for food, and ensuring that health regulations are followed.

The mission of the Food Pantry is to provide emergency food to Lyons families who are in need. Referrals are required. The food pantry is open Monday- Friday from 11 to 1.

The Lyons Lunch Program has hired Lisa Moore as the cook/coordinator. She will plan meals and cook. She will also schedule and train volunteers in food-handling techniques.

The mission of the Lyons Lunch Program is to provide free nutritious meals to anyone in need. Everyone is welcome. In addition to providing a nutritious meal, the Lunch Program is a place where friends gather to share their joys and sorrows. The Lyons Lunch Program is open from 11:30-12:30 Monday through Friday.

Both programs are located in The First Presbyterian Church of Lyons (11 Queen Street at the corner of Broad).

The programs are supported by the Inter-Church Council of Lyons and are registered Foodlink sites. Both programs have received support from community members, agencies, and organizations. The Lunch Program receives a grant from the Red Cross.
