History at Night in Lyons
Beginning in the mid-19th century, several generations of woman suffrage supporters lectured, wrote, marched, lobbied, and practiced civil disobedience to achieve what many Americans considered a radical change in the Constitution. Militant suffragists used tactics such as parades, silent vigils, and hunger strikes. Lubitow will talk about the struggle as it pertained to the residents of Wayne County and western New York. The public is invited to attend this free event but reservations are required as seating space is limited. To make reservations, call the Society at 946.4943, Tuesday-Friday, from 10 to 4. Zappia Vending Service Inc. and the Society will provide refreshments for the event.
