The cranberry is one of only three fruits native to America, the others being the Concord grape and the blueberry.

Rachel Bailey provided piano music and Amy Thomas a flute solo during Nov. 10 worship services, at the Second Reformed Church. Former minister, Rev. Russell and Ruth Johnson were welcomed at the Second Reformed Church that day.

Virginia VanderBrook is a patient at the Newark Hospital.

Gregory and Angela Ruthven of Marion are happy to announce the October 24 birth of Anabelle Elizabeth, born at Newark ViaHealth. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 4 oz.

Dear Dan: The leaves are all down from our Silver Maple tree and now we can see the steeple at the First Church. Fall is here!

The MARION COMMUNITY GROUP, who sponsor the Sauerkraut Supper at the Elementary School on Election Night, realized $433 dollars which was forwarded to the Food Pantry for needy families.

November 16, 1912: The number of ballots cast in this town for Taft was 210, for Roosevelt 202, and for Wilson 47. The town has been for more years than can be remembered, almost entirely Republican. The withdrawal from the ranks of nearly half for Roosevelt, was a sad surprise.

Nov. 15 and 16 - 'Road Kill Cafe' a country -style dinner theater, loads of fun and laughs, at the Scarlet Thread Student Center, 34 Mill Street, Sodus. Call 483-0204 for tickets. Seating is limited. Tickets $8/person or $15/couple. All proceeds benefit the Student Center. Come dressed in country attire. This is an adult event, although students are welcome.

Congratulations to 5 students who attended Jr. High Area All State this past weekend. Josh Messenger, Audrey Tuma, Cara Thomas, Jayson Keys and Meredith Morse had rehearsals for two days and presented a concert for parents and teachers. They did a great job representing Marion.

The cross country team played Marcus-Whitman for Sectional honors. Jane Bovet finished 11th and received a Sectional shield; Caitlin Snyder had her best race of the year; Rick Dean finished 21st; Rick Hargarther, Ted Sterchi and Aaron Barber also ran well.
