scarecrow Scarecrow contest in Lyons this Saturday

October 5 brings a Scarecrow Contest with public judging at 9 a.m. Please bring your hand-made scarecrow to the Lyons Park by 9 a.m. Prizes will be furnished by the Lyons National Bank for both children's and adult's entries.

On October 12, the Lyons Fire Department will be honoring Fire Prevention Week by bringing the 'Smoke House' for a safety demonstration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Rick Hoyt and Friends will be regaling Market visitors with their eclectic mix of blues and folk tunes. Sharon Morano of Cornell Cooperative Extension will be preparing a sweet potato dish to sample.

On October 19, the Wayne County Historical Society's Sharon Lubitow will lead a 'Walk Around the Park' at 9 a.m. to share the history of many downtown businesses and sites.

The Market's final day of the season, October 26 will end with a dance recital by the many students of their Steps of Faith Dance Studio from 9 to 10 a.m. A Halloween Costume Contest follows with public judging at 10. Market is open from 7:30 to 11 a.m. around the Park.
