What an absolutely beautiful week it was. (It's nice to finally see grass that is green this year.) There are a lot of fun things going on this month in Wayne County, so mark your calendars. (If your calendar looks like mine, you can barely see the numbers behind he notes anymore).

The Apple Shed would like to welcome everyone to the 3rd Annual Apple Shed scarecrow convention that runs through October 31. And, as always, remember to pick up some cider and donuts, or take a visit to the Haunted Barn.

At the Kraft Shack you can get into the Halloween mood, on Tuesday October 15 you can make a Happy Ghost with Pumpkins. The class is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The Happy little ghost hugging pumpkins is made from wood, complete with posts to put into the ground and light. $26 includes all. Maybe one of these days, Sandy or Ruth could send pics along so we can all see how the projects turn out. It would be fun to see the class with their projects, don't you think? Of course, as with all classes, please pre-register and pre-pay or put a $l0 non refundable deposit down.

Speaking of Fall, don't forget the fall foliage train rides. Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 12 and 13), train rides are at ll:30 and 2:15 p.m. The Halloween Express sounds like fun. The train rides are always a lot of fun for the whole family, and educational for the young ones (who look at you confused when you say people used to ride on trains).

Don't forget the Haunted Hayrides of Greater Rochester which take place on DeFisher Farms in Williamson. Purchase your tickets at Wegmans.

bunnies flowers I used to love to take the kids to the Storytimes at the Libraries. As you know, the Pre-School program has already begun for 3-5 year-olds and registration is necessary. The Lap Sit Storytime for l8-month-olds to 3-year-olds will be on Mondays at l0:30 and begins October 21. An adult must be in attendance child during the whole period of time. (Kids like to have you stay anyway and the storytimes are always entertaining. I used to enjoy them and stayed even when I didn't need to.) For more information and to register, please call the library at 589.2048. The Williamson Library is open Monday -Thursday l0 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Friday l0 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Saturday l0 to 2.

Ralph and Betty Everdyke left Wednesday morning about 4:45 a.m. and arrived in Florida about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday - 1285 miles in two days. Ralph said they had good luck with the weather... A little foggy in the mountains of Pennsylvania and only about two minutes of rain in Georgia... Nice and sunny most of the way. They've been busy getting supplies and things settled, and were lucky with their condo because it looked like they had just left it the day before. They'll keep us posted of anything going on. The latest weather report from Florida is sunny and about 90 degrees. (Now to find out how they keep their place so clean without even being there.)

If there is every anything you'd like to have added to the column , please let me know , you can write to me at:

It's fun to know what's going on in the 'old neighborhood.'

Have a great week.
