Happenings 'The steam hammer appeared in 1842.' The next Chicken & Biscuit Dinner at the Marion United Church, will be held on Monday, October 21. Servings begin at 4:30 p.m. for this well welcomed dinner. Friday, October 25 -Shoeshine Johnny's Student Coffehouse - the Theme is 'Witches, Warlocks and Druids, Oh, My!' 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Scarlet Thread Student Center, located at 34 Mill St., Sodus. Music by SSJ Houseband. Desserts, unlimited access to the coffeebar, program, the SSJ store - all for the low cover donation of $5. Performance spots still open, contact Kim for booking, 483.0240. Brian and Jill Adriaansen and boys, Craig and Derek, spent the last weekend at the home of Jill's parents, Roger and Grace Schneckenburger. Other family members were in attendance and they enjoyed an early Thanksgiving get-together. October 12, 1912 - A large number of infants were baptized, goodly number of adult members were received into the Presbyterian Church, Sunday, this being the first communion service in the new building. Over the weekend, Eunice Ellsworth, was happy to spend time with her son, Jerry, who was visiting from Albany, NY. They enjoyed eating out including the Marion Legion Roast Beef supper last Friday. You won't want to miss the 'Rotterdam Church Chorale' concert which will be performed at the Marion High School on Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. This choir is made up of 90-plus voices. There will be a Family Harvest Fellowship Night on Saturday, October 26 at the United Church. The Official Board will host an evening of fun and fellowship for families in the Margaret Curtis Fellowship Hall. Bring a carved or decorated pumpkin and enter the pumpkin-judging contest, dunk for apples and join the donuts on a string contest. There will be other events and treats galore! Helen Stanton is recovering at home following surgery. Our family is once again filling 2 shoe boxes for the agency, Samaritan's Purse, to share at Christmas time to bring joy and hope to a hurting child. This we do in memory of our grandson, Jeff. October 15, 1931 - Two busloads of agricultural students from Cornell University at Ithaca motored to Marion one day last week to see the new celery washer in operation. Copyright
