Coming to the Lyons Farm Market

September always brings a bounty of late summer and fall produce to the Lyons Farmers' Market. Look for some of your favorite varieties of apples, peaches, tomatoes, melons, peppers, corn and squash. Fall is the time to plant your perennials and stock up on beautiful mums. Don't forget to decorate with gourds, Indian corn, dried flowers and pumpkins as the season progresses. Amish and other fine baked goods are available, too.

The Lyons Heritage Society will return on September 21 with more peppermint candy, commemorative tea towels and Lyons coverlets along with a bake sale. Plans are in the works for a Lyons Public Library-sponsored Scavenger Hunt for the kids, a mini-petting zoo, cooking demonstrations with free samples, a Sheriff's Department child safety booth, a Scarecrow Contest, Halloween Costume Contest and Steps of Faith Dance recital.

The Market opens each Saturday morning from 7:30 to 11 a.m. in the Village Park.

WIC coupons are accepted by participating farmers. Support local growers, crafters and bakers.
