Golden Olympics this weekend

Finger Lakes Golden Olympics are set for this Saturday (Sept. 7) at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Palmyra, from 11 to 3.

Wayne County Nursing Home, DeMay Living Center, Clifton Springs Hospital, Crest Manor living & Rehabilitation Center, St. Ann's Community, Highlands of Brighton, Sodus Blossom View and Brightonian residents will compete in ball winding, horseshoes, bean bag toss, nail pounding, Spelling Bee, bottle cap toss, bowling, sponge throw and shoe kick. All participants win ribbons.

Some 148 elderly participants will be at the Finger Lakes Golden Olympics. Each participant and their volunteer are provided with a picnic lunch. The 4H Happy-go-lucky Club will be on hand to man the ice cream booth.

The Jubilee Singers will sing a special song written by Beth Whitbeck for the Golden Olympics. Boy Scout Troops 96 & 138, 4H Lighthouse Club and St. Ann's youth group will offer their services for the day. Numerous other organizations, clubs, area business support the Finger Lakes Golden Olympics.
