Family members gathered to help Albert and Maria DePape celebrate on the occasion of their 57th Wedding Anniversary on August 16. Johanna Williams has returned home following a hospital stay. Geoff Hayden is at home following surgery. Dorothy and Leighton Wiant just returned from a 3000-mile trip through New England, Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island, visiting relatives in New England and enjoying the seafood and beautiful coastline of Nova Scotia. The Wiants met sister Betty Dean Kroft and husband from California in Halifax, Nova Scotia, joining them on their journey. Arriving home in Marion, the Wiants hosted an extended Dean Family reunion on August 24. They entertained 50 relatives from California, Colorado, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, etc. Leighton provided a tractor/wagon hayride around the farm to see the woods, crops and barn, while Dorothy set up carnival games in the barn for all the kids, little and big. All relatives trace their roots to the Wiant/Dean farm, originating from the five Dean brothers, Art, Earl, Ivan, George and Morris. The weekend brought lots of fun and noise and little or no organization. Pictured is one of the two recent aerial photos of Marion, which will be ready for showing at the museum, at Marion Festival on September 21. (Don Hunt Aerials, Wolcott)
