Mexican Fiesta this weekend

A Mexican Fiesta is planned Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Sodus Primary School, on Route 88. Admission is free.

The Fiesta begins at 3 with music, food and dancing. Authentic Mexican food will be available featuring barbacoa de pollo (chicken BBQ), with rice, beans, tortillas and salsa.

The cultural program begins with traditional Mexican folk dances performed by Horizontes de Esperanza, along with a performance by the children of ABCD Child Care of Ontario.

There will be raffles, pinatas for the children, a Fiesta Queen contest and the excitement of soccer all day long.

The Latin rhythms of the Tikal will kick off the evening dance at 5, followed by deejay Tino Fernandez at 6, playing traditional and popular Latin music until 8:30 p.m.

The Fiesta is held to commemorate the date of Mexican Independence.

The Wayne County Multicultural Arts Project, Inc. along with the New York State Council of the Arts, will once again be sponsoring this year's event.
