Newark Sept. 11 ceremony

This morning, in commemoration of September 11, 2001, the church bells in Newark are ringing for one minute at:

8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:59, a.m. and 10:29 a.m.

The Village of Newark will have a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. in Central Park. Mayor Peter Blandino will honor the victims and their families, as well as those who suffered on the tragic day of September 11, 2001.

Retired Zone Sergeant William Schusler, 33-year veteran of the New York State Police and a Newark resident, will speak about his several visits to New York City and Ground Zero during the difficult aftermath of the attacks.

The Village of Newark will also dedicate the Veterans Memorial and recognize and give thanks to people who contributed to the success of the memorial in Central Park.

At 7:30 p.m. there will be a prayer service for everyone at St. Michael's Catholic Church on South Main Street.

Also at 7:30 p.m. there will be a dedication ceremony at the Arcadia Historical Society to dedicate their flagpole and flag.
