History at Noon at WCHS

A lecture on the evolution of Heritage Square will be presented by Town of Ontario Historian Liz Albright in the next History-at-Noon session.

Heritage Square, an 1800's community that reflects early life in Ontario, was acquired by the Town of Ontario Historical and Landmark Society in the early 1970's and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. This restored community consists of an 1800's Log Cabin, a one-Room Schoolhouse, a Baptist Meeting Hall, an Iron Ore Miner's House, the Warner Farmhouse and the Town Jail.

The presentation will take place Wednesday, September 18, at 12:10 at the Wayne County Old Jail Museum on 21 Butternut St., Lyons, and is free to the public. Participants may bring a bag lunch. Zappia Vending Service will supply a beverage, and the Historical Society will provide dessert.

For further information contact the Museum, Tuesday-Friday, 10-4 at 315.946.4943.
