Lyons Elks foliage train ride Lyons Elks Lodge #869 will sponsor a Fall Foliage Excursion on October 12, along with the Finger Lakes Railway Corporation. Three trains will leave from the Geneva 'station' of the Finger Lakes Railway at Railroad Place. Each train will travel easterly toward Cayuga on a 90-minute ride. The trains will leave Geneva at 9 and 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure. Each excursion will be composed of an engine and two passenger cars with seating for 100 passengers each trip. Along the way, passengers will be able to see the beautiful fall foliage and the remember days past of the train rides and to hopefully introduce new riders to a gentler means of transportation. Riders will see the rippling waters of Cayuga Lake and cross over the historic Seneca River on a slow, picturesque and romantic journey through the countryside. This outing will be the return of passenger excursions on this section of track in over 42 years, which was formerly known as the New York Central Railroad - Auburn Road. Trains are not yet heated and passengers should dress warmly if weather is cool. Finger Lakes Railway has undertaken the restoration of two of its present four passengers cars, which are 1954 main line coaches formerly owned by Canadian National. The passenger cars will have restroom facilities. Food and beverages will be available. Tickets are $13. Children under age two can ride free on the lap of the supervising adult. For tickets - Elks Lodge Secretary Rick Wunder at 946.4844 (Mon.-Thurs,. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Fridays, 8 to noon). E-mail at RCWLAW@USADATANET.net or mail to Lyons Elks Lodge #869, P.O.
