Day of Prayer noted in Newark

The Newark Clergy and Together In Christ are sponsoring National Day of Prayer on May 1. Breakfast at 7 a.m., followed by prayer for local, state, national and international leaders. Free admission; the breakfast is being sponsored by Together In Christ. The program, open to the public, will end at 8 a.m.

Reservations can be made with event coordinators, the Rev. Elton Smith at 331.3895 or the Rev. Timothy Johnson at 331.2255 by Tuesday, April 29.

The theme is Righteousness Exalts A Nation, based on Proverbs 14:34.

This verse contains an important exhortation for the citizens of this country, especially in light of recent events such as 9-11 and the war in Iraq and continual disturbances in the middle-east along with economic distress in our nation and world.

Invited are: village and town officials, fire and policemen, school board members administrative and teaching staff, and interested people in the community. Location is the fellowship hall of Arcadia Reformed Church 5694 Woodlane in Newark.
